There's a common misconception that it's impossible to infuse fiery intensity and apocalyptic desperation into intricate, elongated songs. In other words, people think that bands forsake spirit and vitality in an effort to be progressive. Sure, it can be the case but with the release, finally, of EP Colossus, Toronto, ON's Titan demolish the possibility of that misconception being cast upon them with a blast of disembowelling guitars, tormented vocals and churning rhythms. Cramming enough riffs into their demonic wailing to confuse the likes of Fuck The Facts and fellow genre mates Buried Inside, yet still maintaining focus and an undeniable essence of passion, these five songs are ravaging bouts of animated, albeit patient, metal. Bastardizing the Neurosis and His Hero Is Gone they were raised on, Colossus features even more ravenous aggression, festering emotional upheaval and malicious, detuned, sludgy dirge than even they seemed previously capable of.
